Sara Moravek began her career in the ag industry 20 years ago as a scale operator. In those 20 years, she has been a part of several company transitions which eventually placed her at Central Valley Ag (CVA).

Her position within CVA included operating the scale, bookkeeping, and other office duties. She took on several tasks that were not in her job description and her manager took note. After seeing how organized, dedicated, and passionate she was, her manager asked her to step into the role of Location Manager. She attributes this to her willingness to learn, explore new ideas, and jump at opportunities as they arose.

She has been able to continuously learn throughout her time at CVA. CVA has provided her the opportunity to become a part of GEAPS (Grain and Elevator Processing Society) as well as other outside organizations. This allows her to take different classes and participate in trainings to better herself in her career.

CVA also provides in-house trainings to help develop employees. Moravek has obtained a development coach that has helped her to become a better leader and manager. She is thankful that CVA provides its employees with different opportunities to learn and grow within their careers.

In her position as Location Manager, she has the opportunity to help others to grow and learn, too. “Having my employees trust me to help get them to the next level or help grow them in their development is what I love the most about my job,” Moravek said. “I always enjoy watching them have those ‘aha’ moments where they are succeeding and going onto the next level.”

Within her position, she has a lot of challenges and has to problem solve. “I love the problem-solving,” Moravek said, “you are never bored here. There is always something new and challenging.” She appreciates the ability to incorporate changes and CVA’s openness to new technologies and their ability to change. She loves to find new, innovative ways to accomplish tasks and CVA is accepting of those ideas.

CVA has allowed her to grow her career, be involved in agriculture, and to meet, and work with, great people. “What I love the most about my job is the people I work with,” said Moravek, “not only the producers who I have grown to know and respect, but my employees. They are great people who want to work and grow.”

Moravek and her husband both work for Central Valley Ag in Courtland, Kan. and spend a lot of their time with their family, traveling, gardening, and woodworking.
