"You've read, or perhaps talked to neighbors, or maybe you've learned first hand that many tools of precision agriculture pay for themselves—maybe in one year, maybe three. But perhaps you're thinking you can't swing that $5,000 or $15,000 payment right now in order to start saving input costs and increasing yields with this technology.
To that end, Central Valley Ag's Advanced Cropping Systems group is offering the "ACS Makes It Easy" lease program to help you purchase the equipment you need......"

“As you evaluate your crop plans for this year, it is a great opportunity to consider increasing your profitability with Variable Rate Seeding. How many times while planting a field did you wish you could increase or decrease your planting populations? What equipment changes could allow you to do that? Would it pay back the investment if you could?
Results observed with our ACS Variable Rate Seeding programs show that upgrading your planter to a hydraulic drive system, either when purchasing a new planter, or by adding hydraulic drives......"

“Every year just before harvest, we begin to preach the importance of having an accurate yield monitor system. Over time we have talked about how some systems like the Ag Leader yield monitor are more accurate than some OEM monitor systems, which is still true today. We have talked about the importance of being properly calibrated for farm records, and with the new ACRE program that may hold an even higher level of importance for splitting dryland and irrigated yields out of a field. One other area that we have focused on is the importance of having a properly calibrated yield monitor, because the historical data will be important in the future as a layer to base input decisions upon......"

“As you start to evaluate your planting equipment needs for next year, it is a great opportunity to consider increasing your profitability with Variable Rate Seeding. How many times while planting a field did you wish you could increase or decrease your planting populations? What equipment changes could allow you to do that? Would it pay back the investment if you could?

Results observed with our ACS Variable Rate Seeding programs show that upgrading your planter to a hydraulic drive system, either when purchasing a new planter, or by adding hydraulic drives to your existing planter can result in savings of $3 -$12 per acre in seed costs, and can increase yields anywhere from 4 to 22 bushels per acre......"

“A Pre-Harvest Checkup is very important to insure accurate collection of yield data.”
Bring the monitor into your office and power it up using the wall-mount power supply included with your monitor. Review the “Initial Calibration” sheet in the calibration section of your manual and verify that they agree with the settings in your monitor.
Make sure the memory card is operational by copying a file onto the memory card and putting it into your computer. If you haven’t already backed up last year’s data to your computer, do it now......"

"Nationwide research conducted by the Precision Ag Institute, www.precisionag.com, shows that growers who have implemented multiple precision technologies are benefiting from the current price boom through better efficiency, lower input costs and higher profitability. Their use of technology to improve management and input efficiency is rapidly moving them ahead of their neighbors who are not utilizing the precision tools available to them. At today’s commodity prices corn producers are netting almost $55 per acre more, and soybean producers are netting almost $64 per acre more than prior to implementing precision technology on their farms. This is a huge advantage in today’s competitive rental and land markets......"
